Anatomy of a Solar Ingress
The word ingress refers to the
movement of the Sun into one of the four cardinal signs, Aries,
Cancer, Libra or Capricorn. The ingress into each sign heralds
the beginning of a new season.
The Four Ingresses are as follows.
We begin with the Sun going into Aries, on March 21st, the
Spring Equinox, the start of the solar year, heralding the
arrival of spring, new growth, and for a short time, days
and nights of equal length.
This is followed by the Sun entering
Cancer on June 21st, the Summer Solstice, indicating the
first day of summer, lots of light, heat to come, and
giving us the longest day of the year.
Next the Sun goes into
Libra on September 21st, the Fall Equinox, letting us
know that summer is over, starting off with an equal day and
night, but leading to short, frosty days.
Finally the Sun goes
into Capricorn on December 21st, the
Winter Solstice, announcing the start of the winter season,
the shortest day of the year, and the cold to come. This
is the reverse of the seasons in the southern hemisphere. When
it is winter in the northern hemisphere it is summer in the
southern hemisphere.
Date of an Ingress
The ingress of the Sun occurs at
the change of the seasons around the 21st. However this is an
approximate date, for there are times when the ingress will
occur a day before or after the 21st, as in the 2005 fall
ingress on September 22, 2005.
Besides the change of seasons, the
Ingress Chart tells us what events will happen either personally,
locally, nationally or globally for the next 3 months.. When we cast a chart for Washington DC, it
will tell us what will happen for the entire USA because DC, as
the capitol, represents the entire country. If we cast a chart
for Sacramento, California, it predicts what is important for
the entire state of California. This is the way weather charts
are done. They are cast and interpreted for a certain locality
at each ingress and able to predict weather far in advance.
The Cardinal Ingresses
All ingresses occur around the
20th day of the month
Aries Ingress - Spring Equinox
March
Cancer Ingress - Summer Solstice
June
Libra Ingress - Fall Equinox
September
Capricorn Ingress - Winter
Solstice December
